a little about us

Get to know us a bit through our history and our approach to our clients.

how we started

As told by Lisa, our Founder and Owner:

As an intern at a local mental health community center, I discovered what I felt was missing in building a therapeutic relationship with clients: shared experiences!

We actually did sessions while shooting hoops (not something I do well), placing handprints on a wall, planting flowers, playing with dogs - it was awesome and created a sense of equality on all levels - sexual orientation, gender, age, you name it…for that hour, we were equals.

I wanted to create a practice where we could use an experiential therapeutic model in a professional yet homelike setting, which I found in our current location.

When you come to Glenn Counseling Center, you might find therapists and clients playing with baby chicks (yup! we have live chicks, shhhh!) or dogs, flying paper airplanes, making a mess in the art room or burning popcorn in the kitchen. The adults we work with may bring their own dog, their coffee or craft and their issues to the table, but whoever you are and whatever you come to us for, come as you are and we will do the same.

We work with you as you are, grow through shared experiences, and celebrate your success alongside you.

We have private, beautifully decorated offices as well as larger rooms for groups and experiential activities. Depending on where you are when you come in, there is a space waiting for you.

our Therapeutic Approach

At Glenn Counseling, our clinicians use a strength-based / solution-focused approach with clients, encouraging understanding and confidence, helping people feel empowered to make wise and intentional decisions.

We utilize a variety of recreational therapeutic
interventions to help strengthen learned skills and activate
a sense of meaning, purpose, joy and overall well-being.

Psychotherapy, or "talk therapy", is a way to treat people with social/emotional issues by helping them understand their thoughts and behaviors. It teaches people strategies and gives them tools to deal with stress and unhealthy thoughts and behaviors.

Psychotherapy helps clients manage their symptoms more effectively.

Let’s take the first step, Together.

We remind our clients...therapy is not crisis management, nor is it advice giving. It is a process of self discovery whereby individuals learn to know and trust their true selves and put their energy into action based on well-developed, healthy choices.
